Talking To The Universe By Doug Wilson

Doug Wilson

'I am' writing an article that will be helpful to a lot of people. Sounds kind of presumptuous huh? It's only meant to emphasize a system. To start I'd like for us to look at the word 'Metaphysical'. Is it at all confusing? Is the exact definition clear? Lets say that it is the scientific study of the universe as a system. We exist within this universe. We operate within this system. We can not separate ourselves from the universe or get outside the system. Like a planet within a solar system, operating within the laws of the solar system, we are part of a system. The totality of everything anyone has ever discovered about the system is contained under the heading of metaphysics. We will look at it this way because it's easy for the brain to understand. If things aren't easy for the brain to understand they are all but useless. So how does this system work? What does it mean to me?

I started a long time ago trying to get to the bottom of the 'What's it all about' question. One of the authors that I came across was Emmett Fox. I read most of Emmett's stuff and a good portion of it stuck in my brain. I don't know how much good it did me but I'm glad it was there. What I'd Like to talk about today is the way the universe hears us. If, like all the metaphysical teachers say, the universe is just giving us what we 'expect' why all the suffering and insanity. Well the answer is we are suffering from a species identity crisis. I'd like to introduce another idea here so it will be with you while you're reading. The subconscious mind, or the part of the brain that is associated with the subconscious, is like the universe. The conscious mind, or that part of the brain that bugs the hell out of us, is the egoic structure. Out of this conscious part we have come to see ourselves as a separated entity. The personality. The me. The me and the universe are no more separate than the chatter box brain and the subconscious brain. If we find this hard to grasp it is due in a large part to our having told ourselves otherwise. That is what I will address and make clear right now.

Notice I didn't say, 'I will attempt...', or, 'I'm going to try...'. I am not going to say that type of thing anymore. If I do I will only ever attempt and try...I never will do. I write at length about the brain and data. Data being everything that gets in the brain from any and all sources. One of these sources, one that we have absolute dominion over, is us. If you read the metaphysical teachings they state that, in essence, the universe is ready to bring into form all that we desire, ask, want and so on. This is where it gets confusing and most people drift away. They drift away because they don't agree. It's not what they have seen. They're right. Anyone who has spent a few years on earth can tell you that most people live there entire lives and never find what they want. Why? Is it all a bunch of hog wash? Are people just spouting this stuff out to sell books and pass the collection plate. Plenty are. They are feeding on peoples desire to find peace of mind, understanding and happiness. It is a vast, seemingly unquenchable and endless marketplace. Folks have made tons of cash from it. There is no denying that this desire to be happy is there. If that's what everyone want's, if that's what we're looking for, why does it seem so illusive?

The answer lies in the way the universe and it's partner, the subconscious, operate. It's in the way they hear us. It will do us a world of good to stop thinking that the universe speaks our written language, or our native tongue, or deals in words at all. It doesn't know Pepsi from Coke. What the universe hears, when we say 'we want', is 'I lack'. What the subconscious, which doesn't communicate in words either, hears is, 'I don't have'. This idea stands up to a simple logical test. What do you have that you are in need of? It never comes to mind that we need a new car if we have a new car. If you're thinking about all the people who aren't ever satisfied with what they have and are always wanting more, it still doesn't blow the theory. In fact it supports it. What did we just say? We said people - want - more. So what does this translate into? I don't 'have' enough. It's always like this. If you want something it should never come out of your mouth that way. Simply because it doesn't work. I shouldn't say doesn't work. It works really well. Perfectly. It is our not understanding the system that is causing all the confusion. Ghandi said, 'Be the change you want to see...'. People who don't understand the metaphysical system will say, 'Yes, first I need to be different...I need to change if I want the world to change...'. In light of our new understanding do we see how this is sort of a do nothing routine? First of all the only thing we, who do this, are being is needy and incomplete. That's what the subconscious part of the brain hears. That is the data we just fed it. 'God grant me serenity' - Translation: I am not serene, I am in need of serenity, I need...I don't have. If we 'want' a different job, how would we approach it? We know now that we don't want to say, 'I don't have the job I want'. So what would send the right message? We want to get a message to the parts of us that create things. Those being our universal connection and our subconscious brain. How about, 'I am getting a different job'? I am creating a great job? That's still a reference to some future event, isn't it? How about something like, 'I am that which creates great jobs for myself and all people'. It's not possible to run out of great ways of stating things. It's fun. I will have fun communicating perfectly with the totality of being. Yes, I just made it up. I like it. It kind of made me feel good. Do I feel I'm communicating perfectly with the totality of being? I'm not saying...anything.

I'll promise you one thing. You will have a better time when you replace 'I want' with 'I am'. It will happen instantaneously. You will have fun on your way to replacing 'I need' thoughts with 'I am' thoughts. I am certain of this.

Am I good at this? How am I going to answer that...and stay out of trouble? Let's put it this way I am going on six years without drugs of any type. Is my brain filled with garbage? Man oh man. You wouldn't believe the amount of ridiculous stuff that got in there. If it's working for me that's really saying something. I'd like to hear from you. Stop by the site and get in touch with me. 'It is' a place to help others. Not 'going to be' but 'is'. This really is a lot more fun.
